About Me

While my intent is to keep this blog somewhat anonymous, I would still like to share a little bit about me with you:

I'm a 25 year old woman in her fourth year of medical school here in the states. I got to medical school via a very traditional route, matriculating in the autumn following my graduation from university with a Bachelor's degree.

Originally, I am from a small town in the Midwest of America. My dad, a farmer, and my mother, a nurse, the love of learning and working in a job that I love was an important value that was instilled in me at a young age. I grew up valuing hard work and dedication with a sincere appreciation for the kindness of others and the unity of a small town community. After graduating from high school, I excitedly moved on to college. It was while in college that I discovered my calling: I wanted to become a doctor. Being a doctor was something I had always dreamed of, but I had never considered as a real possibility until I went out on a limb and I applied to, and was accepted into, medical school. After four years of undergraduate education, I graduated college with Honors, holding a degree of a Bachelor's of Science in Exercise Science, magna cum laude. I enthusiastically began medical school in the following autumn.

In June 2013, after four long years of studying and unrelenting commitment to education, I will be receiving my Medical Degree (my M.D.) shortly after I marry my soul-mate, better-half, and best friend. It seems like my whole life has been waiting for this, and I am beyond excited to see where I will go from there!

My aspiration is to become a Medical Oncologist; Cancer is where my interest in medicine began, and I could never imagine choosing a specialty outside of oncology.

My life outside of medicine consists mostly of long walks with my morkie (Marley), spending time with my fiance, hanging out with my family (I have 2 nephews and a niece), cooking and baking, running, reading books, playing the piano, watching Mad Men and New Girl, dabbling in photography, and planning our wedding.

So please, feel free to browse around the blog! Hopefully you'll learn a little bit more about yourself in the process.

Thanks for stopping by!
